Elk Grove Post 233 & Post 55 are hosting the American Legion Walk for Veterans Day on Monday, May 27, 2024 (Memorial Day).  Seating starts at 10:00 A.M. The Memorial Day Ceremony starts at approximately 10:30 AM.  The walk to Elk Grove Park will start immediately thereafter. Upon arrival at Elk Grove Park, join the American Legion for hamburgers and hot dogs.

The purpose of this FREE 1.8 mile community awareness walk is to raise awareness in the Elk Grove community about veterans and the positive impact they provide to their community. It also brings attention to the many great services the American Legion provides (e.g. advocacy for veterans benefits, job fairs, family support through Temporary Financial Assistance) and brings attention to veterans who served their country and paid the ultimate sacrifice.

All participants will be required to sign a Release and waiver of Liability form available online at www.elkgrovepost233.com. Participants under 18 years of age will be required to have their parent/legal guardian consent to their participation by signing the release form. The completed and signed form should be scanned and emailed to post233wfv@gmail.com by May 27 or provided at the time of check-in on May 28 prior to the start of the walk.

For a modest donation of $10 or more, participants can receive a FREE Walk for Veterans t-shirt to wear during the event, while supplies last. Those participants who received Walk for Veterans t-shirts at last years event are encouraged to wear the same t-shirt for this year’s event since the design has not changed.
